Unmyelinated nerve fibers:
When we examine these fibers after they are dyed with hematoxylin and eosin, we see the axial sheath lacking. We observe the presence of the axis only, surrounded by the Xuan sheath, which can be distinguished by observing the nucleus of the Xuan cell, which is imprinted with hematoxylin and appears on the nerve fiber.
The transverse sections (TS) appear to be bundles of nerve fibers round and surrounded by a bundle of connective tissue that is rich in blood vessels and fatty cells called epinerium surrounds each bundle of connective tissue known as the peripheral perineum. Fibers are organized together by a connective tissue known as the endonerium.
