Acrodermatitis enterpathica.. Genetic disorder may be due to zinc deficiency as in the syndrome of malabsorption



Acrodermatitis enterpathica:
It is a genetic disorder that may be caused by zinc deficiency as in malabsorption syndrome.
The condition may be fatal in infants and young children.
Clinical manifestations:
- Skin lesions.
- Candida-like lesions appear around the mouth and around the genitals, scalp, elbows and fingers. Skin eruptions are small vesicles, pustules, ulcers, and scaly, pubic lesions.
Loss of hair and nails.
General features:
Endocarditis may be associated with severe diarrhea leading to diphtheria.
- Diagnosis depends on the clinical picture and zinc deficiency in the gallon in circulation.
