After orthodontic treatment, it is essential to keep your teeth in the jaws in the correct position with restraints.

After the first months of wear and tear of full-time servants, most patients will only wear nightgowns on their servants.

At Braces San Diego, we offer different restraint options and often adapt them to your individual needs. The three most common types of warrant can be chosen are:

1- Removable Hawley wire retainers:

Advantages:
- last long
- Can be tight or repaired
- Let the bite "settle" in a more comfortable position over time
- Can be customized with many colors, logos, etc.

disadvantages:
- Do not cover the biting surface of the teeth, do not protect against grinding
- Allows a slight movement of the teeth
- are more expensive to replace
- More visually visible than the wire can be seen
- The bulky cover of the palate is embarrassing for some patients
-May be lost or broken

2- Removable transparent plastic retainers:

Advantages:
- Hold the teeth in the exact position where they were moved
- Protects teeth against wear due to grinding
Almost invisible
- are less expensive to replace than other restraint options
- If you make a slight movement, wear them full time - this can help put your teeth in the right position.

disadvantages:
- Do not last as long in other assistants
- Are easy to lose because they are so clear

3- permanent retention related:
Advantages:
- Can last many years if properly maintained
- Can not be lost because they are stuck permanently
disadvantages
They are much harder to clean, brush and floss
Be careful not to eat too hard things

Important information about the restraint garment:
- Wear your restraint at all times unless directed by the doctor.

- Take out your binding when you eat and always put it back in its case! (Most home appliances are lost in school canteens or restaurants).

- Carefully clean the retainer once a day with a toothbrush. Use lukewarm but not hot water. - Retaining brushes remove plaque and eliminate odors. Efferdent® or other orthodontic appliance cleaners may be used, but do not replace brushing for clear substrates, but should not be used with metal brackets.

- When your servant is not in your mouth, he should ALWAYS be in his holster. Animals love to chew them!

At first, you may have trouble speaking. Practice speaking, reading, or singing aloud to get used to it faster.

- The supports are fragile, so treat yours with care. If your money order is lost or broken, call us immediately.

- If you have questions or concerns about your mandate, or if you think it needs to be adjusted, call us. Do not try to adjust it yourself.

- Always bring your mandate to your appointments.
Replacement parts are expensive, but with proper care, they can last for years!

- Remove your restraint when you go swimming.
- Keep the retainers away from hot water, hot dashboards, pockets, washing machine and towels.
